Several farmers in CALABARZON participated in the TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolk Outlet

The Department of Agriculture, led by Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol and other key officials, launched the ‘TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolk Outlet’ located at the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) Compound, Malate, Manila on July 28, 2017.

Various agricultural products can be found like fresh fruits, vegetables, and sea foods to name a few, which all directly came from farmers thus, expect that prices are much lower compared to other markets.

The TienDA features several products from each region. As for CALABARZON Region, through the assistance of Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), roasted eggs by Batangas Egg Producers’ Cooperative (BEPCO), passion fruit by Marketing Vegetable Growers, fresh vegetables by Southern Luzon Farmers and Traders’ Marketing Cooperative (SOLUFATMACO), pineapple by Bugarin Pineapple Association, quality rice by Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC), sweet corn from Tanauan, Batangas, and brown eggs by Batangas Free Range Chicken.

Secretary Piñol said, “the TienDA Farmers Outlet is the first step in the implementation of President Rody Duterte’s commitment of making food available and affordable to the Filipinos. It is part of the department’s advocacy to lessen the tiers and layers of middlemen, traders, and dicers who operate in between the food producers and the consumers.”
